Nuclear Engineering
Nuclear engineering research addresses some of the most challenging scientific and technological problems of modern society, from safe and efficient energy production to advanced medical and industrial applications of radiation. At the Physics and Energy Engineering Department, Amirkabir University of Technology, nuclear engineering research is interdisciplinary and combines fundamental physics with applied engineering. The research spans medical physics and radiation applications, nuclear reactor analysis and thermal hydraulics, radiation detection and measurement, particle accelerators, and nuclear fusion and plasma technologies. Faculty and students work on both theoretical and experimental problems, including the development of diagnostic and therapeutic radiation methods, modeling and simulation of nuclear systems, health physics and dosimetry, and fusion-related plasma devices such as tokamaks. Through laboratory-based research and collaborative projects, the group aims to advance nuclear science and engineering while contributing to education, innovation, and the responsible use of nuclear and radiation technologies.
